Not only do CDEs intrinsically support many of the guiding principles but Bentley’s expert partner network can provide the right advice on digital transformation if required.

Cultural change

It’s been well documented that the fragmented nature of construction is one of the main stumbling blocks for change.

Furthermore, the housing sector has also been more resistant to embrace digital working so working towards the Golden Thread principles will require a cultural shift in thinking for many companies involved.

Bentley’s expert consultants can advise no matter if it’s simply guiding you to the right system to fit your needs, or helping you map out your digital strategy to ensure increased competence and capability and enforce better working practices.

Easy to create and maintain

Bentley’s CDEs such as BCDE make it simple for your supply chain to know what, when and in what form information must be provided to create the golden thread.

Unlike most other multi-tenanted CDEs, you’ll own a dedicated instance of your BCDE so your golden thread can be easily maintained by yourself or handed over to the eventual owner/perators so it can become an integral part of the building itself – it’s digital twin.

This will ensure you are creating a digital legacy that is up to date and maintainable.

Residents feel secure in their homes

Residents are also part of the golden thread and need easy access to relevant safety information such as ‘when were the fire extinguishers last checked and where are they located?’

Unlike other systems which are typical complex to master, BCE has been designed to be intuitive and makes use of QR code, so for instance, a resident could scan the QR code on the back of the door with their mobile to bring up a map showing the location of all the fire extinguishers, which can also be clicked to access their relevant safety data files.

Secure

BCDE protects personal and commercially sensitive information and maintains the security of the building, the supply chain and the residents whilst providing ease of access to authorised users.

It complies with current GDPR legislation and has been selected for use on many high profile government, infrastructure and security projects as well as trusted by the UK’s leading asset owners and operators.

“Besides proactively managing new developments, BCDE Portfolio helps us
mandate deliverables from the supply chain and hold partners accountable for
the delivered asset and associated information.”

“The university continues to migrate more information into the CDE each day, including legacy documentation. All of this activity means we will always be in the best possible position to surface information about our assets quickly, without the risk of single points of failure and information losses.”

“One of the key goals right from the very outset was putting different levels of sophistication based on the Digital Twin Toolkit report, ranging from incorporating historic CAD, GIS survey data or point cloud right up to running predictive simulations to support strategy and planning, reduce risk and ensure the level of digitization is appropriate for the asset.”
